Last stop of the day. This castle is located about 8 miles from Cape Coast Castle and is known as the oldest European structure in Ghana. Elmina was also used for slave trade.
Elmina Castle is much smaller than Cape Coast Castle. There hasn't been as much restoration done here as in Cape Town Castle. It has a more authentic, historical feel.
The conditions were similar to that of the neighboring Cape Coast Castle. In the dungeons light could only enter through the doorways or a few small holes at either end of the ceiling.
