Anadolu Kavagi

Today was a leisurely day on the water. I took a 6 hour day cruise on the Bosphorus to the small fishing village Anadolu Kavagi. Many locals come here on the weekends just for the sea food. The big tourist attraction for the village is the remnant of a Byzantine castle. The hike up to Yoros Castle was strenuous, as the street leading up to it is very steep. After the castle, I had lunch at one of the many restaurants that were along the dock and I even tried something new –midye tava (deep fried mussels). It was served with tarator sauce –made from bread, crushed fresh garlic, lemon juice, yogurt, olive oil, salt and vinegar. Yep, the locals know a good thing when they taste it.
