Istanbul

I went to Asia today. Fun fact –part of Istanbul is in Europe and the other is in Asia. I crossed Galata Bridge to go explore the Asian side. For those of you who don’t know we well, I’m a little geographically challenged. I didn’t realize that I was holding my map upside down and that resulted in some wrong turns and me exploring a side of the city most tourists won’t see. A few days later I went to the Grand Bazaar -it's one of the largest and oldest markets in the world, with over 4000 shops. You can see from my pics just how popular it is with both locals and tourists.
I also visited the Mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed I. He was Sultan in the 1600’s and 32 of his family members are also entombed there. (His tomb is the one in the back row, fenced off)
I was able to find a well-known candy store all on my own. (I celebrate the little victories). Its family owned since 1777 and has some other locations. I felt it was my duty to help keep them in business so I bought some marzipan.
