Scotland 8-16-15
Early in the morning we went to the Glenfinnan Monument, at the head of Loch (lake) Shiel. It was erected in 1815 in tribute to the Jacobite clansmen who fought and died in the cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. The surrounding Loch was beautiful. Right behind the monument is a bridge that was used in the Harry Potter movies. Next we stopped for photos at the famous Castle Eilean Donan. It is the most photographed in Scotland and has been in several films, including "The World is not Enough" and the Highlander series. We were also lucky enough to see a baby Nessie. On our way to the hotel, we drove through a town that featured a waterway going straight down the middle. The hotel (black & white) was beautiful. We were able to walk do down to the beach in the afternoon and again at sunset.
